Welsh 3000s Challenge - JTYAF/CCF
In early November I will be taking on the Welsh 3000s challenge - climbing all 15 of the 3000+ foot mountains in Wales in under 24 hours! All proceeds will be split (50/50) between the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation and Hereford Cathedral School Combined Cadet Force. JTYAF, set up in remembrance of Lt John Thornton RM, helps secure funding to allow teenagers to make the most of amazing opportunities to develop and explore in fields that they otherwise would not have been able to access. Likewise, HCS CCF also provides invaluable experiences for children aged 13-18 (from Hereford Cathedral School and Whitecross School) from which they can gain nationally recognised qualifications at no personal expense, which would otherwise be out of reach, and access to opportunities which aren’t available outside of the cadet forces.
Please support this effort, and the children it will help. Any and all donations are gratefully accepted.
UPDATE: Unfortunately my November attempt was unsuccessful, as I had to call it off just under halfway due to a combination of dangerous conditions (winds 60+ mph and very poor visibility). That being said, I will be attempting the challenge again when the conditions are more permitting, when next there is a window of opportunity, potentially in the Christmas holidays!
