Your donation to Oliver's Army - A Lasting Legacy for a Beautiful Boy
On Saturday 2nd December, just as the sun was
rising, our incredible Oliver went to sleep in my arms. He was 11 years old - a
boy with a huge personality, crazy sense of humour, wild imagination and
massive heart. We will miss him and cherish his memory for ever and ever.
On behalf of all our family, we would like to give
endless thanks to everyone who has supported us during the last year. We have
been completely overwhelmed with the love, practical help and generosity that
has constantly surrounded us. It has helped to make the unimaginable so much
more bearable.
We would also like to thank Oliver and George's
wonderful group of friends who have faced this awful situation with courage,
empathy and care for each other. This is, in no small part, a credit to their
parents and to our lovely school community at Ludworth.
Oliver was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour a year ago and battled very bravely through exhausting and debilitating treatments. He was cared for magnificently by doctors and nurses at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and The Christie and we are so grateful to them all for their dedication.
A Lasting Legacy
We will celebrate the life, personality and imagination of our incredible Oliver on Wednesday 20 December.
Donations via our Sponsor Me page will be split two
ways:
1. To our beloved Ruben’s Retreat in
Glossop to help their efforts to build essential respite accommodation for
families just like ours.
2. To the establishment of a charitable fund
in Oliver’s name, creating a lasting legacy to support school children locally
with their mental and emotional wellbeing and continuing the efforts of George
and Oliver’s Army. This will initially be channelled via the Mellor March
charity.
Alternatively, if you would prefer to support a
different charity either now or in the future, we have been helped enormously
by the following: Macmillan, The Rainbow Trust, Wish Upon a Star, Beads of
Courage, Francis House, RMCH Foundation, The Christie, Together for Short
Lives, Winston's Wish, The Beechwood Centre.
Lots of love
