72 Holes, 32km, 10,000 Feet
72 Holes, 32km, 10,000 Feet
Is 3 different events which will take place within the space of a 7 days. On the 9th of June myself and some friends will take on the first event of completing 72 holes of golf back to back. This will mean teeing off at sunrise and all being well completing the event before sunset. Approximately 55,000 steps, however more than likely a little more knowing the standard of golf being played.
The 2nd event will take place a couple days later, if 55,000 steps in one day wasn't enough. I will be walking from St Agnes Head to Nare Head, a coast to coast walk which is just over 32km.
To see the week of events off I will be trying to conquer a fear of mine being heights and doing a skydive and jumping out of a plane at 10,000 feet!
The reason for me wanting to do these events is not to have an excuse of playing some golf but it is to raise as much money as possible for 2 amazing charities which over the past 18 months they have both become very relevant for my family.
Around November last year, we were informed my Gran, Dor-Dor had been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. This is a form of Blood Cancer which takes up 15% of all Blood Cancer and just 2% of all cancers. With the cancer being such a small percentage of all cancer and non curable Myeloma UK invest in research to help improve treatments and are also determined that no-one goes through Myeloma alone.
Dor-Dor is doing an amazing job at fighting off this horrible disease and hopefully by doing these events, herself and many others will benefit from your kind donations.
My 2nd choice of charities is the British Heart Foundation, the reason for choosing the BHF is back in January last year after a successful knee surgery My Uncle Robert (Guppy) unexpectedly passed away from suffering a cardiac arrest. This is something which was a huge shock to us all and to be able to do something in his memory is something which I have wanted to do and I am sure me jumping out of an plane would bring him great amusement.
Any donations which will be greatly appreciated, not only by myself & my family but also the great charities your donation's are going to and the people in which will benefit from them.
Thank you
