Lands End to John O'Groats (LeJOG) Cycle Challenge
I completed this challenge in 2006 in 11 days, 18 hours and some loose change for the Haemophilia Society. I always felt I could have gone quicker, so here we are, 19 years later, 2 stone lighter and with a faster bike. I have 3 routes from south to north, this is for any variation in weather, rider condition or bike mechanical failures - this is a solo, unsupported attempt and I will be wild camping, using a mountain rescue cooking stove for much needed carb intake. I have to put in 147 miles per day, this sounds like a huge amount but don't look at the big figure, broken down into smaller rides if necessary, this is a serious attempt at completing the 900 (approx) mile route within 7 days. I will be riding a 16 speed Bianchi C2C road bike. Mobile phone provider permitting, I will be live streaming some of the route, especially climbs and descents so you can see pain and joy respectively! I will upload as much footage of this attempt as possible and am looking at some kind of live tracking via whatsapp. A recent training ride, including some nice hills came in at 6 hours for 96 miles - I'm ready to go. I think the fundraising we do for British Heart Foundation is amazing as an organisation and I hope this event can contribute to the total, along with all of our other brilliant, slightly mad fundraisers!
